Staffing & Recruiting Manager expertise in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Accounting, Finance, HR, IT Accountability: The Project Engineer reports to the Capital Program Engineer who is accountable for ensuring the delivery and completion of capital projects on time and within budget. The Project Engineer is responsible for delivering assigned projects on time and within budget, coordinating pre-construction, construction, and commissioning activities with Operations, Environmental Quality, and Asset Management departments to minimize disruptions and meet the needs of front-line utility personnel.
Job Summary: The Project Engineer, serving in a high-level support role and working independently on multiple projects, is accountable for the delivery and completion of capital projects on time and within budget. May provide limited supervision or support staff direction. May report directly to the Capital Program Manager on specific projects. Represents the company in communications with city, county, and other government agencies, as well as other utilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees construction of multiple capital projects for regulated utilities.
Works independently on smaller projects when required.
Coordinates internal and external resources to complete assigned projects, balancing operational needs and schedules.
Prioritizes projects within the area of responsibility.
Prepares, monitors, and reports on project schedules and budgets; implements corrective actions as needed.
Monitors quality control and inspection activities, taking corrective actions when necessary.
Coordinates field changes with engineering staff.
Prepares and presents periodic progress reports to supervisors.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PROJECT ENGINEER I: Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, or environmental engineering OR construction management or a related field.
Knowledge of project management software (preferably MS Project).
Experience with PowerPlan fixed assets software and JD Edwards accounting software is a plus.
Strong communication and analytical skills.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PROJECT ENGINEER II: Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering OR construction management or a related field.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the assigned state OR PMI/AAPM project management certification is strongly preferred.
Two years of construction management experience on public works or utility projects.
Knowledge of and experience with project management software (preferably MS Project).
Experience with PowerPlan fixed assets software and JD Edwards is a plus.
