Our client, Zora Crafts, is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join their full-time team, based in Sydenham, Victoria. They specialise in high-quality residential and commercial construction projects, with a commitment to delivering exceptional workmanship. The company undertakes a range of construction tasks, from structural framing to detailed finishing work. The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of carpentry, from framing to finishing, and a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

The role

The Carpenter will follow blueprints and building plans, shape or cut materials to exact measurements with hand tools or power saws, and operate, maintain, and sharpen carpentry tools. Install structures or fixtures, including windows, doors, frames, flooring, trim, and hardware, using hand and power tools.

The annual salary is $74,000 to $75,000 plus superannuation.

Responsibilities include:

• Install structures or fixtures, such as windows, doors, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware, using hand or power tools.

• Level and help erect the building framework.

• Utilise chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders to repair and erect structures.

• Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.

• Examine work to make sure it meets specifications.

• Install door handles, locks, hardware, flooring underlay, insulating material and other fixtures.

• Follow blueprints and building plans to meet clients' needs.

• Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws.

• Operate, maintain and sharpen carpentry tools & equipment.

• Maintain building interiors and exteriors.

• Prepare cost estimates for clients or employers.

• Estimate height, width, length, and other proportions using levels, rules and framing squares.

• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using a ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.

• Select and order materials and timber for projects, and preparing layouts.

• Work with materials such as wood, plastic, fibreglass, or drywall.

• Assemble prepared wood to form structures and fittings ready to install.

• Follow established safety rules and regulations, and maintain a safe and clean environment.

Tools & Equipment:

Measuring and Marking Out - Retractable tape measures, wind-up tape measures, scale rules, folding rules, etc.

Squares and Bevels - Try square, Mitre Square, Sliding Bevel, Combination Square.

Gauge: Marking Gauge, Mortise Gauge, Cutting Gauge.

Knives, scribes and pencils: Marking Knife, Utility Knife, Scribe, Carpenter's pencil,

Drawing pencil.

Traditional Hand Saws: Traditional hand saws, Rip Saw, crosscut saw, Panel Saw, Hard Point Saw, Back Saws, etc.

Hammers: Claw Hammer, Warrington Hammer, Club Hammer, Sledgehammer.

Other equipment's include: Screw drivers, Planes, Chisels, File, Rasp, drills, Clamps, levelling tools and power tools such as drills, saws, sanders, planes, routers and trimmers and nail guns etc.

Qualifications:

• Should have a minimum of one to two (1- 2) years of experience in a similar setting.
