Head of Operations - Exhibition and ConferenceJoin to apply for the Head of Operations - Exhibition and Conference role at dmg events:
Energy PortfolioJob PurposeWorking closely with the Senior Operations Director, you will be responsible for leading the organisation and management of flagship Energy Exhibitions and Conferences, along with other related projects within the energy portfolio at dmg events, from conception to completion.You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver operational excellence, on time, within budget, and with a good ROI.Manage and improve dmg energy best practices within the operations team to support show teams across dmg events.Lead a team of Operations Managers and Supervisors to ensure efficient event execution throughout the year.Key AccountabilitiesTeam Management and Development:
Build, lead, motivate, and develop the Operations Team through training, appraisals, and KPIs.
Manage workload and resources effectively for successful event delivery.Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement business plans and strategies for the energy portfolio.
Collaborate with senior management to meet objectives.
Conduct feasibility studies and site visits to ensure venue suitability and operational efficiency.Finance:
Budget Management and P&L:
Oversee operational budgets, ensure cost control, negotiate with suppliers, and optimize procurement processes to achieve profitability and manage risks.Health & Safety:
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, implement dmg energy HSE documentation, and brief teams on safety issues before and during events.Project Management:
Support the operational delivery of events, manage logistics, build and breakdown, and coordinate stakeholders.
Ensure project timelines and documentation are maintained.Event Creativity:
Work with suppliers to deliver innovative, cost-effective features, and explore new industry trends and technologies to enhance event quality and reduce costs.Relationship Management & Communication:
Foster positive relationships with team members, stakeholders, suppliers, and venues.
Lead meetings, ensure service standards, and maintain clear communication.Qualifications, Experience, & SkillsKey Requirements:
Minimum 6 years' experience in large-scale exhibitions.Knowledge of operations, Health & Safety best practices, and budget management.Strong negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder relationship skills.Ability to work under pressure, manage teams, and multitask effectively.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with proficiency in MS Office.Desirable:
Experience with project management software (e.g., Monday.com), multilingual abilities, IOSH/NEBOSH certification, and AutoCAD knowledge.Personal AttributesCustomer-focused, hardworking, proactive, organized, collaborative, and efficient.dmg events is an equal opportunity employer.
