Distinguished Engineers are expected to lead through technical contribution. You will operate as a trusted advisor for our key technologies, platforms and capability domains, creating clear and concise communications, code samples, blog posts and other material to share knowledge both inside and outside the organization. You will specialize in a particular subject area, but your input and impact will be sought and expected throughout the organization.

About the team:
The Business Bank Engineering (BBE) Lending team is a fast paced and passionate organization that is responsible for building new and exciting capabilities of the lending platform used for underwriting and portfolio management of large commercial loans. We design and deliver software solutions across a diverse technology landscape consisting of a variety of open source technologies, enterprise platforms, and cloud services.

In this role, you will work on our Lending Platform to provide hands on deep technical expertise . You will act as a bridge between developers and executive management . You will work with other Distinguished Engineers to detail out high level designs to help Software engineers with clarity to develop and engineer the products as envisioned . You will be responsible to help the teams with setting up the best in the industry engineering culture and developer experience . Additionally, you will provide mentorship and strategic guidance to our engineer, product, and leadership groups.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree

• At least 10 years of experience in software engineering, enterprise architecture, solution architecture or data architecture

• At least 7 years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python, Golang, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node. js, etc.

• At least 3 years of experience in cloud native technologies (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field

• 10+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support

• 10+ years of experience in designing large scale and resilient applications

• 3+ years of experience with solutioning a large scale platform

• Familiarity with Security engineering and architecture, cloud and software-defined networking, site reliability engineering

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the act.
