Position Overview:

The Senior Piping Designer provides technical expertise in the layout & design of equipment and piping systems for major projects, such as FPSO and FLNG facilities.
This role involves leading large-scale projects, developing complex designs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
The Senior Piping Designer also mentors junior Piping Designers and conducts technical reviews.

The ideal candidate for the position will have a strong background in the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry, be an expert in the field of Topsides Piping Layout & Design and provide a strategic focus in the Topsides Concept Layout for Conceptual/pre-FEED/FEED/EPC(I) projects being bid in the offshore area, follow-up in the detail engineering and support the project during fabrication.
This will include FPSO or FLNG facilities as well as other Fixed and Floating platforms/facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and Manage the Piping Layout activities on Large-Scale Projects:

• Take charge of execution, and successful completion of the Piping Layout & Design scope for large-scale FPSO & FLNG projects.
  
• Develop Piping Layout & Designs for FPSO and FLNG facilities from conceptual to detail design.
• Generate the piping project deliverables such as 3D Model (Aveva E3D), equipment and piping general arrangement drawings, isometrics, special pipe support drawings
• Give timely input to the resource planning of the Piping department for current and future project requirements.
• Supervise, manage and control the works performed by engineering subcontractors.
• To answer general queries arising from Clients, Contractors, or internal Company departments on Piping Layout & Design aspects for the piping scope of the project.

Develop and Review Complex Piping Designs:

• Utilize AVEVA Engineering Software (1D, 2D 3D) and expertise to develop complex Piping Layout & Designs that meet project requirements and performance criteria.
• Support the piping lead engineer and provide input to manage the interface between the multiple design centers and fabrication yards for the Piping Layout & Design scope of the project.
• Incorporate innovative solutions and best practices to optimize design efficiency, functionality, and safety.
• Take ownership of the layout for one or more selected modules of the FPSO or FLNG
• Take ownership of the 3D Model and conduct, and lead the 3D Model reviews for his or her scope.
• Review project specifications and client requirements to ensure alignment with project design and deliverables.
• Ensure that all Piping Layout & Design activities are efficient and comply with relevant client requirements, industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Give input to the project lessons learned register.

Provide Technical Mentorship to the Engineering Team:

• Built the Piping Layout & Design team and mentor and train the junior designers.
• Actively give input and develop efficient standard work processes for delivery of project deliverables to internal and external clients.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.
  
• Encourage collaboration and knowledge exchange to enhance the collective expertise of the engineering team.

Conduct Technical Reviews and Approve Documentation:

• Conduct technical reviews of Piping Layout & Designs, and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  
• Provide feedback and recommendations to improve the quality and integrity of piping layout deliverables.
  
• Check final documentation, including 3D models, drawings, and reports, prior to submission for approval to project piping lead.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Piping Layout & Design, with significant experience in offshore topsides design (including FPSO / FLNG facilities).
• Good understanding of offshore industry terminology, concepts, and practices.
• Proficiency in AVEVA engineering & design software (1D, 2D, 3D)
• Proven track record of success in developing and performing Topsides Piping Conceptual / Feasibility Studies during pre-FEED/FEED or detail engineering.
  Prior experience with FPSO or FLNG design development and/or engineering project delivery (e.g.
  at a top-tier FPSO contractor) will be preferred.
• Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Good management skills with successful track record in supervising large teams of piping designers (internally and externally).
• Ability to work with and to communicate effectively with co-workers, subcontractors, vendors, clients.
  
• Fluency in English
