Junior Java developer

We are looking for a junior Java developer to reinforce our team which has more than two decades of experience in the satellite industry. As our new colleague, you will contribute to the development and testing of an application which is used to book GEO and Meo satellite throughput/capacity for one of our key customers. The application involves a backend in Java using MicroServices and a front-end in Angular. The role is based in our development centre in the heart of Europe, the city of Luxembourg.

You will be an integral part of an already existing team of experienced, friendly, and talented colleagues, who are passionate about software development and support each other perfectly. You'll have the chance to work with cutting-edge technologies and take a leading role in enabling the satellite communications of the future!

You will actively participate in the ongoing implementation of the software project. You will be expected to learn fast, be communicative, produce and maintain clean and efficient code following development and quality standards, on time and within budget. Most of all you have a passion for software development, allowing you to produce the software that the customer needs.

What we want from you

You hold at least a Bachelor's degree in any field of Engineering (or equivalent degree/work experience)

You have 2+ years of experience in Java development, and you are comfortable working with existing codebases

You have experience with Angular

You enjoy the challenge of analysing existing code and redesigning it to optimize and solve inefficiencies. You don't shy away from diving right into problematic areas, and you enjoy figuring out the best way to make things work properly

You can prioritize problems, bugs and bottlenecks to work on the most pressing issues first

You combine this with active experience working on Java-based software projects based on the Spring and Spring Boot frameworks, and you are familiar with tools in the Java eco-system like Maven and Hibernate

You have both an experience writing automated unit and integrations tests, as well as

An experience using CI/CD frameworks like Azure DevOps

You are familiar with Linux and scripting tools like Ansible

An experience with Docker or Kubernetes is a nice-to-have asset but not necessary

You have the ability to debug and refactor complex solutions and propose relevant architectural changes

You are comfortable working in the Agile methodology

You are meticulous and organized, ready to go the extra mile to make sure that your code is clean, and test coverage is high, as it should be.

You communicate easily and enjoy working closely with other software developers, but also with product managers, and validation engineers

You are a fast learner, eager for new concepts, not afraid when challenged to apply them

You can work independently when given tasks, but you also know when to ask for help

You produce clean, readable, and well-structured documentation in English

You preferably have a work permit for Luxembourg.
